so i was going through a few harry potter groups in facebook, and there seems to be a certain widespread circulation that harry is a horcrux, and he will have to die in order to destroy voldemort.
i've been thinking about it and came up with a few arguments.

first, why harry is not a horcrux.
voldemort's horcruxes were all created during his teenage/young adult days, e.g. hufflepuff cup, tom riddle's diary, nagini. do they seriously think that voldemort would have attempted world domination and his ascent to power without first getting all seven of his horcruxes? seven was his lucky number, a "magical" number and would have practically guaranteed his invincibility. given that he took on not only the ministry and their aurors but also dumbledore - the greatest wizard of all time and the only one he feared, it is most likely he would have ensured maximum protection from death first.
also, voldemort had no intention of marking harry as a horcrux. why? read any book in the harry potter series. in fact, read the very first book in the harry potter series. voldemort stormed the potters house in godric hollow to kill harry, because the limited information he found out from trelawney's prophecy was that harry was virtually the one and only person who could destroy him. he cast avada kedavra on harry, but it backfired and hit him instead. He Did Not Die. this already implies that voldemort most likely already had the 7 horcruxes, to be able to withstand not just the Killing Curse, but also a Killing Curse cast by himself. and this happened at the height of his power.
also, (and this is the most compelling) being obvious that voldemort would not try to destoy his own horcrux, harry could not have been a horcrux before voldemort's fall from power at godrics hollow. and after the backfiring of the killing curse, it would be impossible as well for voldemort to have turned harry into a horcrux given his horrifically weakened form. harry was not a horcrux before or after, and the only spell voldemort cast on him was the avada kedavra, according to the books, hence there is no way for him to be one.
also, according to yuks, jk rowling has confirmed harry is not a horcrux. end of story.
haha.

now, why harry is a horcrux.
horcruxes are created when tragic elements have occurred, given the spell's evil nature, and the death of harry's parents as well as the avada kedavra backfiring off him would have made harry a more than attractive target to incorporate as horcux right at that moment.
it is possible in book 7 that it will be revealed that something else went on in godric's hollow besides what harry was told, and through some twist of fate, a piece of voldemort's soul was imprinted onto harry (lightning-shaped scar!). it IS magic, after all.
by unintentionally making harry a horcrux, voldemort himself unwittingly fulfilled the prophecy, and made harry the One who could kill him.
also, speaking of at the prophecy, "neither can live while the other survives", implies that harry has to kill himself for voldemort to die, which says alot. its possible harry is the final horcrux (or even, the eighth horcrux) and has to destroy himself so voldemort would lose his ability to live on through the horcruxes. after which voldemort will become vulnerable to avada kedavra and be totally destroyed.
hmmmm. makes sense?

ok my sis just came up with a really funny but credulous theory. for neither to live while the other survives, it means that both can't live while One is alive, which means they either both die, or both co-exist. HAHAHAHA! can u imagine?
And so, Voldemort and Harry became best friends and lived happily ever after in Little Whinging!
and vernon dursley never dared to bully harry again. all voldemort has to do is glare at him through his evil red snake slits and lack of nose structure, and dursley will go running on his fat ass.
and the death eaters dropped by for the occasional cup of tea.
lolololols.
whaddya guys think? leave comments! at the bottom of the post ((:
