first off, for those who (STILL) don't have facebook, pictures!

King Lear was fantastic. it never once got boring, never, even though i've known the same text for two years. Ian Mckellen (it should actually be Sir Ian Mckellen, but i'm lazy haha) was amazing, his Lear was a mixture of incredulous anger, grief and insanity rolled into one.
Cordelia 'had balls', as charmaine so aptly put it, and romola garai is really very pretty.
crystal, i'm so so sorry i couldn't get her autograph! we actually hung around after the play ended and manged to catch the cast walking out, but couldn't recognise her among the throng of people walking by so fast. i can send u pics of her in the program though!
i liked this regan alot, goneril was great too. i liked the fool! his outfit and shape weren't what i'd expected them to be, but his manners and voice all suited perfectly.
edmund was really kinda hot (NO i absolutely refuse to degrade myself and call him a 'sexy bastard'), i could sense for the first time why regan and goneril were so taken with him (SMIRKS).
i loved the lighting, the set was great. i think the only thing that audiences might take issue with is, esp if u haven't read the play, you might find yourself somewhat lost during the raging storm in the wilderness scene and the cliff scene. both require vast stretches of imagination to believe in the location, and you have to really rely on the actors words and expressions to truly "see" (no pun intended, oh no sirree). even i had some difficulty myself "seeing" the settings in the cliff scene (it was after all, practically a bare set). but other than that, WOOHOO! to the RSC and ian mckellen and all for a truly stunning performance.
i actually cried a little during lear and cordelia's reconciliation, and during lear's death. (although the "never, never, never, never, never" line was really slow and for a horrific moment i was tempted to laugh haha). i could hear lots of sniffles in the audience though, and even the guy diagonally in front of me was secretly wiping his face, so i'm glad i wasn't the only one touched.
watching the play unfold brought back memories though, like memories of how much i had enjoyed lear's three great speeches and sometimes i actually caught myself mouthing the words as the actors recited them.
at 3 and a half hours, lear was by no means short, but i thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it.
moving on for those who've no idea of what i'm talking about...
deathly hallows releases in approximately 6 hours time.
chionged HBP today. i'm so excited and yet somewhat reluctant. i don't want this amazing journey to end!!
harry must die. he just has to. please no more ron/hermione!!!! *gags
and so, in anticipation of a book nearly 2 years in the making, in a series that took 10 years to finish, thank you and goodbye harry potter.
